There is no shortage of music in the world today. Modern technology has made music more abundant and more accessible than it has ever been. It would seem that the supply of new music far surpasses the demand.
But I don’t just create new music for people to listen to. Of course I create new music, but I can offer a lot more than just a new track to put in your iTunes library. I offer custom music and sound work that is useful to anyone producing new media.
I have dedicated years of my life to learning about music and audio, and now much of my time is spent teaching others and passing on what I’ve learned. I have degrees in Commercial Music and Music Technology. My studies have covered a wide variety of musical styles from classical symphonies and Italian arias to heavy metal and EDM. My top priority has always been mastery of the tools I use to create music and sound. These tools include various types of software, microphones, synthesizers and samplers, as well as principles of music theory and orchestration. All of this enables me to not only write, but also produce everything from simple piano music to full orchestral scores at a professional level. So whether you need soft jazz, calypso, or epic sounds of the apocalypse, I know I can meet your needs.
I have heard some criticize this approach to music making, saying that an artist needs to “find their voice.” To that I would say that my goal is not to write one kind of music for the rest of my life. My goal is to experience everything music has to offer. I want to learn about different cultures. I want to meet different kinds of people. Like so many people today, I want to make music. But unlike most of those people, I don’t want to do anything else.
I am a composer, producer, and music educator based in Salt Lake City. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Music from Snow College and a Master’s in Music Technology from Southern Utah University. Upon graduation, I was hired on to teach in both of these programs. I also now teach at Salt Lake Community College. I have taught a variety of courses including MIDI Orchestration, Private Composition, Electronic Music, and Basic Audio Production.
As a composer I have worked on many different projects, including film, TV shows, movie trailers, and video games.
